The Best Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, or Evo as it is commonly called, is one of the most legendary rally cars in its segment. Originally, the Evo was only intended for Japanese markets, but its popularity eventually brought it to other countries, including here in the United States. Here are some of our favorite Evo models.

Evo I – In 1993, Japan got a taste of the first ever Evo. Its turbocharged engine delivered 244 horsepower and there was a stripped-down RS version that was designed to be tuned up for competitions.
Evo III – The third iteration of the Evo made its debut in February of 1995. It had more aggressive styling, better brakes, and increased power up to 270 ponies.

Evo V – With the Evo V, Mitsubishi made a few changes including updating the Recaro seats in the GSR version, widening the track, making aerodynamic tweaks to the styling, and increasing the torque to 275 lb-ft.
Evo VI – In 1999, the sixth generation of the Evo made its debut. It came with a larger intercooler, new pistons, and new bodywork. You can hear the Evo VI pop during this thrilling hill climb. There was also a special edition Tommi Makinen Edition designed after the rally champion’s race-winning car.
